The term GF stands for glass fiber. Compare to the carbon fiber, this glass fiber is flexible. Glass fiber reinforced plastic is stronger than many metals by weight, non-magnetic, non-conductive, transparent to electromagnetic radiation. It is chemically inert under many circumstances. GF-PEEK is a glass fiber reinforced PEEK. It is considered as one of the world’s highest performing functional materials which allow it to use in harsh environment. GF-PEEK is produced using 10% of glass fiber content. As per PEEK, it has excellent bio-compatibility, chemical resistance, mechanical properties, and thermal properties. However, it is lighter than PEEK, better inter-layer adhesion, and better temperature resistance, whereas GF-PEEK is higher density and higher toughness than CF-PEEK. Recently, it is often used in demanding applications such as aerospace, automotive, and electrical industries.
